In the first article of this series we introduced the ADDIE model. The five steps of the ADDIE model are Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. This article is the third in a series of articles that breaks down each step of the ADDIE method. In this article, we’ll look at the ADDIE Implement phase.

Implementing Your Training Project

Now that your courses are complete and tested, it’s time to put them in front of the learner. In the ADDIE Implement phase you deliver the training materials to the people who will be teaching the course and/or upload them to the LMS.

ADDIE Implement Phase Delivery Methods

You can deliver Implementation one of three ways, in person, using an LMS or both. The decisions made in the design phase will influence how you carry this out.

To successfully implement your training, you need to answer these questions:

Who is the training for?

Where will the learner enroll in the training? In-person, online?

How complex are the Materials?

What time period does the learner have to digest the materials before putting them to use?

Where will you give the training? Are there training rooms designated or will you do the training where the workers perform the work?

How does a learner demonstrate successful course completion? Is there a written examination, a skills assessment or both?

How will you collect feedback?

Preparing for Training Launch

A successful launch requires preparing the learners, trainers and the environment. Monitor the launch so the materials can be adjusted, and improvements incorporated, as needed. If you have an eLearning course, delivery, tracking, and reporting should be handled by the LMS.

If this is a large roll-out, an excellent method to screen out any problems before large-scale implementation phase is to conduct a pilot. This can help you uncover and correct any issues before rolling out the content to the entire organization.

The output of the ADDIE Implement phase is live content.

Now you’re ready to move on to the next, and final step of the ADDIE model – Evaluate.
